Tour Event: Taste Floury Rice-based Baked Goods by New Recipes
Sejong, 27 June 2024 — From 1 June through 31 October, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs runs an event
for a bread-tasting tour with 32 famous bakeries across the Republic of Korea.
The ministry has been making efforts to nurture the floury rice industry to stabilize rice supply and demand and enhance Korea’s
food self-sufficiency rate. As part of the effort, the ministry has been carrying out a project to support the development and sale of
bread and baked goods made of floury rice. Following last year’s sucess1), 30 famous bakeries from across the country have participated
in this project this year and developed 120 recipes for floury rice-based baked goods. The participating bakeries started selling
those baked goods from this June.
1) In the 2023 project, 19 bakeries, including Piecemonte, participated and developed 76 recipes for floury rice-based baked goods.
To promote floury rice-based baked goods made with new recipes and provide consumers with more opportunities to become more familiar
with them, the ministry runs an event for bread-tasting tour from 1 June through 31 October. We give a variety of gifts to event participants
drawn at random from those who prove their purchasing of floury rice-based baked goods by posting it on their social media accounts.
The bread-tasting tour event is organized with a total of 32 bakeries across the country—Sungsimdang and Hongdudang plus the 30 bakeries
participating in the project for development of new recipes of floury rice-based baked goods.
