◈ (Background) Full cleaning and sterilizing of nationwide pig farms and facilities and public campaign for home comers in preparation to massive movement in Chuseok

* Need for special control of disease following the increased risk of occurrence and spreading of ASF and FMD due to massive movement of people such as overseas tourists and home comers during Chuseok holiday

❍ (Full Cleaning and Sterilizing Campaign of Pig Farms) Full cleaning and sterilizing of pork industry related livestock facilities and cars including pig farms and slaughter houses nationwide

- (Sterilizing Targets) All pig farms nationwide (around 6,300 farms), related facilities, livestock transporting cars

- (Sterilization Date) Before Chuseok on September 10 (Tue), after Chuseok on September 17 (Tue)

- (Sterilization Method) By mobilizing Nonghyup joint disease control group, sterilization cars of local governments and equipment of farms, intensively sterilize inside and outside farms, and promote disease control measures. Livestock facilities such as slaughter houses perform sterilization of cars by using their own sterilizing equipment. (Sterilize livestock cars in nearby base sterilizing facilities.)

- (Sterilizing Inspection) Managers designated for each pig farm inspect sterilizing status and slaughter inspectors confirm sterilizing status of slaughter houses.

❍ (Promotional Campaign) Promote disease control guidelines in public-private efforts to the general public including home comers at major transportation facilities such as airports, ports, KTX and terminals

* Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, Livestock Health Control Association, Nonghyup, Chukhyup and Korean Pork Association

- By using village broadcasts, banners, leaflets and text messages, promote the campaign to home comers and livestock farms
